Donald Trump and Cher trade Twitter barbs: His hair versus her plastic surgery

Just like the more than 620,000 people who have signed a petition demanding that Macy's end its association with Donald Trump, Cher got pretty pissed off when she learned the high-end retailer sells products from the "Celebrity Apprentice" creator.

"I'll NEVER GO TO MACY'S AGAIN ! I didnt know they sold Donald Trump's Line! If they don't care that they sell products from a LOUDMOUTH," she tweeted. "RACIST CRETIN,WHO'D LIE LIKE 'HIS RUG'TO GET SOME CHEAP PRESS ! I CANT BELIEVE MACY'S THINKS HE'S THE RIGHT 'MAN' 2 REPRESENT THEIR NAME !"

Oh no, not the hair! Cher seemingly hit Trump's soft spot, because he took a jab back at her infamous plastic surgery.

"@cher--I don't wear a 'rug'--it's mine. And I promise not to talk about your massive plastic surgeries that didn't work," he tweets. "It's amazing how people can talk about me but I'm not allowed to talk about them."

That was enough to cause Cher to sort of apologize for her statement, tweeting, "2 set the record straight..I Took a Cheap Shot At Trumps Hair...I WAS WRONG! However..... He is a Flaming A**hole & I Hope Macy's Dumps Him !"

However, neither the petition nor Cher's appeal has been enough to sway Macy's association with Trump. Macy's President and CEO Terry Lundgren said Trump is here to stay.

"Macy's marketing and merchandising offerings are not representative of any political position," Lundgren wrote in an email to the man behind the online petition that was posted on BuzzFeed. "Ours is a free society compromised of a wide range of viewpoints. Many of the individuals associated with products sold at Macy's -- or at any retailer, for that matter -- express personal opinions that are not related to the merchandise we sell or to the philosophies of our company."
